Some study respondents don’t believe the policy will be real. Canada is among nations that have authorized a coronavirus testing policy for travellers entering Canada from China.

A current survey from the Angus Reid Institute found that most Canadians support this need but are indeterminate about whether it will decrease COVID-19 cases in Canada. 38% of those surveyed said the policy won’t be real, and 28% stated they’re uncertain. Canada isn’t the only nation to have a COVID-19 policy for China. In early January, South Korea and Japan introduced an entry need on travellers from China.

Where South Korea stopped issuing tourist visas, Japan has authorized negative COVID-19 tests and limited flight travel into the nation. The Chinese government has since stopped issuing visas to Korean and Japanese residents, and called the restrictions biased.

In Canada, 13% of Canadians believe this rule is racist, compared to the 73% of individuals who do not believe it is.  The main problem from people opposing this policy is that it may stimulate Sinophobia towards Chinese-Canadians.
