Best Local Reporter, Best Local Anchor, and Best Local Newscast are among the nominees.

On Wednesday morning, the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards candidates were announced, and CBC Vancouver received three nods in the local news category.

The CBC Vancouver News at 6 hosts Anita Bathe is up for Best News Anchor, Local.

In the wake of the wildfire that burned Lytton, British Columbia, reporter Michelle Ghoussoub of Vancouver was nominated for Best Local Reporter for her article on preparing for upcoming climate calamities.

The CBC Vancouver News at 6 was up for Best Local Newscast, but it is by no means the least important nomination.

Shiral Tobin, director of news and programming at CBC British Columbia, said it was an honor to be acknowledged for the journalism work her team does.

We’ve been really concentrating our assignment and priority around that, so it’s quite gratifying to get acknowledged in video storytelling awards.

This year, CBC/Radio-Canada is nominated for 320 awards, 22 of which are in the news and current affairs category.

The awards will be given out throughout the week of April 11, with Samantha Bee serving as the host of a lengthy award event on April 16. The broadcast special will be shown on CBC and CBC Gem on Sunday, April 16 at 8 p.m.
