Walk for Alzheimer’s set for May 28 in Prince George
Fund raising support services like the First Link Dementia Helpline, and fitness and public programs like Minds in Motion in communities across B.C.
The yearly Walk for Alzheimer’s is set for Sunday, May 28 at the YMCA of Northern BC.
“The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is helpful in changing the lives of more than 85,000 people living with dementia and their caregivers,” Laurie De Croos, support and teaching coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. said. “Not only is it a important fundraiser for the society, allowing us to offer vital programs and services, it rallies a community of support around people pretentious by dementia, and lets them know that they are not alone.”
The Northern B.C. Walk honours Sandi and Florent Foucher, community members who have been pretentious by dementia.
The walk, presented by Go Auto, is the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s largest annual fundraiser.
Inhabitants are invited to sign up for the walk as persons or may set up a team of family, friends or colleagues and show people on the dementia journey that they are not alone.
There’s a big incentive added to this year’s walk that sees Northern B.C. residents become qualified to win $1,000 when they take part in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s that takes place across the province in 20 communities. The walk is an imperative chance to raise awareness about dementia, challenge the stigma associated with the illness and raise funds to support British Columbians on the dementia journey.
Funds raised support important programs and services like the First Link Dementia Helpline, and fitness and social programs like Minds in Motion in communities across B.C.
Registering on May 28 takes place at the YMCA of Northern BC at 1 p.m. and the walk starts at 1:30 p.m.
