The three-day-old Winter Storm Warning that covered the Prince George-Vanderhoof region is finally over.

Due to a slow-moving system, we just experienced a significant snowfall in the past 72 hours.

Here is a Vista Radio interview with Environment Canada meteorologist Derek Lee about how much rain fell during this time.

“In the roughly three and a half days from Monday afternoon to Thursday morning, we did witness a range of anywhere between 25 and 33 centimeters dropping.”

When asked if the storm broke any snowfall records, Lee responded that it didn’t quite reach that level.

“It appears that the recent snowfall totals were pretty substantial. As a result, the Prince George Airport experienced its second snowiest January 31st ever.

Lee said that from now until next Wednesday, the daytime temperatures will be above zero.

He adds that rain showers or moist flurries may return.

As usual, when temperatures rise above zero, some things will melt and because it will be chilly at night, some things will freeze.
